A few students have asked about the free lesson bonuses that I am offering. You will find basic information on these free lessons in the “Lessons” section of the Darby Music website (http://darbymusic.com), within the “Rates & Duration” subsection.

The specifics of these bonuses have recently been modified, partially due to a slight increase in the standard lesson rate, and partially due to the need to place a cap on the maximum number of referrals. You could potentially receive several free lessons for only referring a few new students to me. Additionally, a slight decrease in your lesson rate will be applied after reaching the maximum number of referrals.

Here is a more detailed explanation of these modifications:

• First Bonus:
  • One free lesson is offered, after you pay for your first month of lessons, and will occur during the first “full month” of lessons. If lessons begin after the first week of the month, then we will apply the free lesson during the next (full) month. Current students have already received this bonus.

• Second Bonus:
  • A maximum of 10 free lessons, a maximum of one per month, are offered for referring 4 new students. You will receive 1 free lesson for the 1st referral, 2 additional free lessons for the 2nd referral, 3 additional free lessons for the 3rd referral, and 4 additional free lessons for the 4th referral. Each new student that you refer to me must take at least one month of lessons prior to your receiving free lessons.

• Third Bonus:
  • You will receive a permanently reduced lesson rate – from the current standard lesson rate – of $5 per (each) lesson (bringing your current rate of $30 down to $25 (for each lesson when paid on a monthly basis)) for the 5th new student referral.

Five new student referrals is the maximum allowed for applying lesson bonuses and the maximum number of students that I might be able to add to my teaching schedule.

I document all lesson referrals, keeping track of who you have referred to me and when they have had at least one month of lessons, and apply your designated free lessons and potential reduced lesson rate appropriately.

The only catch with these bonuses is that we will no longer be able to apply the Second or Third Bonuses when my schedule is full and I am unable to add more students. However, in the mean time, I will strive to maintain an average 3 openings (per lesson day) in my teaching schedule to give you the opportunity of receiving the Second and Third Bonuses.

Any or all of these bonuses are subject to change at any time.
