One of these things is not like the other…
You will normally see information posted in here that can be applied directly to music lessons, including topics like theory, notes, scales, chords, rhythms, songs/pieces of music, practicing, etc.
Every now and then, if I come across something especially interesting I post it, such as last month’s music quotes entry.
I recently came across an image of a very peculiar instrument.
One of these things is not like the other…

On another note, getting back to the main subjects of this webpage…
An upcoming update will cover fundamental characteristics of reggae music with a few basic examples. It will focus mostly on the drumset, though the idea of the reggae style can be applied to other instruments. If there is an interest in this subject amongst the “non-drummers”, I can add reggae-specific entries focusing on guitar, bass, and/or percussion.
Another entry will describe some of the more complex chords (altered, extended, and altered extended) that will include examples and comparisons with the more basic chords. This can be applied to any instrument, or any pitched instrument at least. Anybody learning non-pitched instruments can benefit from this for gaining a better understanding of what goes on in the realm of notes and pitches within music.
Perhaps one of the best ways to learn any of the material covered in this site is through physically experiencing it, or “experiential learning”. If you are interested in any of the topics discussed on this webpage (or in the forums), let me know and we can apply them directly to your instrument(s).

I seriously hope that’s a real bass. Two strings… they have a weird tuning. I figure hes got a standard E and a super low D string.

Yep, it’s the real deal. I have no idea what gauge strings or tuning it uses.
It is a crazy bass though!
I think the girl’s bass is a p-bass (precision) and the “body look” of the headstock on the guy’s bass resembles that of a jazz bass. Though, both basses are sunburst with white pickguards. heheh
